Feedback
Week 1
Both Ms Anis and Mr Kannan said our presentation is not bad.
General Feedback: Mr Kannan reminded us not to rely on Google Slide as the internet is not good. We were reminded to present with confidence and to interact with the audience.
Reflection
Week 1
Art direction seem like something that is quite vague and quite hard for me to grasp it, but I do remember the main keywords, look and feel of the project! When doing the slides, initially me and my group we're having a hard time defining what is new media, as non of us took that specialization. However, with some help from the lecturers in explaining to us what new media is, we manage to pull it off. I only realize that there's such thing as creative director, as before that I never know of this position, or I always think that it's the same as an art director. Though their differences are not much, it seems like both positions are needed especially in big projects.
Week 2
The leadership traits of an art director seems a lot like any other usual leadership traits a leader needs to have. It's always interesting to listen to industry stories by Mr Kannan as that really give us an idea about the reality of how the industry works.
Week 3
It's quite hard to grasp the line between defining the art direction of the game without going into too deep in certain categories. I notice a lot of other classmates were reminded to not go too deep into the game mechanics design. In my group, sometimes when we discussed we almost went too deep into the game design, but luckily we constantly remind ourselves that we're just doing the art direction and not the game design. It's happy to see that the lecturers didn't give much comments on our slide, but at the same time we also feel kind of worried because there's not much comments, especially when compared to other groups.
Week 4 - Week 14
Throughout the journey in creating the Art Bible, it was a fruitful one. Among my group, there's Azmina that constantly thinks that we didn't do enough work, even though we do, and there's Yu Hui that constantly thinks that she didn't contribute much, even though she did a lot. But we get to work together and being considerate of one another in the process. I also get to learn the fast way of painting and creating the shadows and highlights, which is through gray scale painting first. Even though I know that there's that way of painting it, but it never crosses my mind that I can use that method myself. After knowing that, it really sped up the whole drawing process. Other than that, I get to unlock more art styles, especially in the character and environment design, as I usually don't color that way.
