Lectures

Lecture 1 : Introduction and Intro to Information Design

For our first lecture, we were briefed about the history of information visualization by Ms Anis.

Lecture 2: Manuel Lima's 9 Directive Manifesto

For the second lecture, we have to make a presentation of the topic, Manuel Lima's 9 Directive Manifesto, according to our group. Below is the presentation done by my group.

Lecture 3: L.A.T.C.H.

For the third lecture,  we were to present about Saul Wurman's L.A.T.C.H., which consists of Location, Alphabet, Time, Category and Hierarchy. Below is the presentation done by my group.

Lecture 4: Chunking

For the fourth lecture, we were to present about Miller's Law: Chunking. Below is our presentation for the topic.

Lecture 5: Isometric Design

For the last lecture, we were to present about Isometric Design. Isometric design is a way designer draws that allows the illustration to look 3D. Below is the presentation done by our group.

Exercise

Quantifiable Charts

For this exercise, we were to collect data from a set of buttons given. After that, we were to choose 5 colors of button from the choice and to make an infographic poster for the data collected.

After choosing my data, I arranged the data collected in my sketch book.

After the data has been organised, I go on making a sketch on how I want to arrange my data on the poster.

L.A.T.C.H.

For this exercise, we were to make an infographic video of four Pokemons based on L.A.T.C.H., which is the location, alphabet, time, category and hierarchy.

The four pokemon I chose to work on is as the following:

As I'm also playing Pokemon during the period of exercise, I decided to focus on the Sinnoh Region, which is the map that I'm playing with that time.

On the other hand, I wanted my outcome to feel like playing the game. Hence I started the animation video like the opening of the game. The map is shown like on the Pokedex of the game.

In Class Exercise

AE Refreshment

This exercise is given to us to refresh our skills in After Effects. We have to create a short and simple video to introduce either something about food, music or sports.

For me, I chose to do music and to introduce about Hatsune Miku, a Japanese virtual singer.

I also added music sang by Hatsune Miku as the background music. The song is called "UmiYuri Kaiteitan".  The final outcome of the exercise is as below:

Dynamic Numbers

For this exercise, we were to create a infographic video after we learned how to animate shape layers in relate to the numbers. For my group, we were to work on activity trackers. Therefore, I decide to use the data collected by phone for the amount of steps I walked for the past week.
