Final Project: Animated Infographics

Week 1

We were briefed on what to do for the project and an example was shown to us during class. For our final project, we have to create an animated infographics which is 1.5 to 3 minutes long about a topic of our choice. The topic has to be comparing two contrasting issues or topic, which  allow us to be able to make comparisons of.

We started discussing with the group and brainstorms for topics for the animated infographics. We list down any ideas we came out with.

We then removed topics that is not to our favor and narrowed down to food and introverts vs extroverts.  After consulting Mr Shamsul about the idea towards "Introverts vs Extroverts", he told us to come up with something that is more exciting and new.

After much discussions, we decided to go for "Vegans vs Vegetarians".

Week 2 - Week 7

This week, we have to create a proposal about the topic of our choice and present it in class. In the presentation we look into the 5W+1H for the topic "Vegans vs Vegetarian".

After the presentation, Mr Shamsul and Mr Jeff commented that the topic vegans and vegetarians is too close to each other and the contrast between these two is not big. After much discussion, we decided to change the topic to "Meat Eaters vs Vegans" as the contrast between these two is greatly bigger.

Below is the slide  which consists of the Mood Board, story line, narrative script, the 5W+1H, and some information that we gathered.

Below is the storyboard done by Ron and Brian :

Based on the storyboard, an animatics is done.

While the other members are doing the storyboard and animatics, me and Rausha started working with the assets of the animation. As the art style between me and Rausha is quite different, we decided to have me drawing the main characters (Brocolli and Bacon) and the background, while Rausha focus on the pop up assets.

As to let the animators to be able to animate the limbs and mouth of both of the characters effectively, they are drawn on a separate layer.

After I'm done with the characters, I proceed to illustrate the background that is used in the "MVV Race" in our animation. As to allow smooth transition, the illustration is illustrate in a way that it can be loop infinity times.

As we're illustrating the assets, the animators (Allen and Irfan) starts to do their animation with the assets they have.
