Exercises
Week 1 : Footage Editing Exercise
Our first lesson of the week starts with a brief introduction to the module by Mr. Martin. We were also briefed about the projects that we will do in the module. We were also briefed by Mr. Razif regarding to sound design and some works done by previous students were shown to us.
After the introduction, we proceed to do a simple footage editing exercise via Adobe Premiere Pro. This is to let us familiarize ourselves with the software.
A folder that contained video clips shoot by our seniors were given to us to work on. The folder also contained the reference that was used to shot the clip. We have to edit the footage by putting them together, according to the reference video given to us.
Week 2: Sound Editing & Footage Editing Exercise
The class starts with an introduction to Adobe Audition which we will use it for sound design. A brief introduction to how sound works is also done by Mr. Razif.
We were then given a task to tune the sound of the music given to us to match the other sound samples given. We were taught to use parametric equalizer to tune the sounds.

After that, we have to recreate an explosion and punching soundtracks and to make them sound better.

Later, we were to further edit the footage we did last week into a 55 second footage.
The final outcome of the video is as below:

Week 3: Sound Effects
For this, we were to recreate the sound as if it's at an environment. The sound effect we have to create is in a bathroom, in a phone call, in a stadium, and an airport announcement.

We were given an Ironman clip and is asked to recreate the explosion sound for it. The sound clips can be taken from Freesound.org or any royalty free sound source. Below attached is my final outcome for the exercise.

For the video exercise, we were to take different shots as to the storyboard prepared for us. We were divided into groups for this exercise.

We then have to compile all of our shootings into a video. Below is the final outcome of this exercise:
Reflective Writing:
Through this exercise, I realize that creating shots isn't as easy as it seems. A lot of consideration has to be done in order to have a nice shot that is able to resemble the atmosphere, the storyline and the environment.
Unlike other groups, our groups finished quite fast for the exercise as we tried to do everything within the studio, which saves us a lot of time in search for the right venue. It's quite fun to work with people whom I seldom interact with.
For some shots, I feel like we were done in a way that is wrong. It should be framed in a more natural way instead of having the pose intentionally.
